Fellowships

The Homeward Fellowships program recognizes and supports promising young adults who are deeply devoted to Christian missions.

Typically, fellowship candidates will be young adults who have a long-term demonstrated interest in participating in Christian missions. Fellows will receive all the scholarships, mentorships, and other academic and vocational support they need to accomplish their educational and vocational goals, with a clearly defined pathway to maximizing the Fellow’s potential to meaningfully contribute to Christian missions in their generation.

Timeline

A fellowship’s duration depends in part on and will last throughout the Fellow’s proposed and intended course of study or training. For Fellows enrolling in an advanced education program, this is usually 3-6 years of initial commitment.

Location

Fellows will typically live near Alabaster Group’s church bases in New York City or Boston and participate in the church community during the term of their fellowship. However, Fellows with good reason to be located remotely will be encouraged to do so.

Scholarship

We are committed to partnering with our Fellows in fulfilling their educational and vocational goals. Scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 per year will be provided to Fellows, based on the nature, intensity, and expected value of their proposed course of study. Fellows are additionally eligible for cost of living grants.

Mentorship & Community

Fellows are brought into community with members of Alabaster Group, other Fellows, and our relationships from other Homeward programs. Fellows will be expected to contribute, through service, to the church and to our partners wherever their skillset may allow.

Criteria

The criteria for our fellowship program are aligned with those of our other Homeward programs and are described on this page.

There are a couple of additional criteria for those applying for a fellowship:

  • Applicants should be age 18 - 30.

  • Applicants should have completed high school (or 12 years of primary and secondary education) with a diploma or equivalent certification. Applicants currently enrolled in college, advanced education, or another vocational training program are welcome to apply.

  • Applicants should have a demonstrated history of involvement in and commitment to Christian missions, in either a ministry or operational capacity. This typically means 10+ years of life on the missions field and a defined plan to contribute to missions throughout their lives.

  • Applicants should have attended at least one Homeward program, such as a Conference or Youth Camp.
